Smart Sensors - The Smarter Solution for Stationary Ion Analysis
Overview
Smart Sensors - the new solution for stationary and online ion analysis by iRAS - consists of a highly integrated CPU unit, the IS, and an electrode system (see figure). The IS (CPU unit) itself contains all electrode specific electronics and functionality and has a standard 4-20 mA interface to transmit the sensor read out to the higher lever system.
Smart Sensors are suitable for almost all stationary applications in chemical industry, water treatment, sewage treatment, environmental protection, monitoring, and many more.
Smart Sensors are available for the most important chemical parameters which can be determined by means of electrochemical sensors, such as:
- Redox (IS 7305),
- Dissolved Oxygen, D.O. [mg/L] (IS 7310),
- Dissolved Oxygen, D.O. [% saturation] (IS 7312),
- Chloride (IS 7315),
- Conductivity (IS 732X),
- Calcium (IS 7325),
- pH (IS 7330),
- Bromide (IS 7335),
- Nitrate (IS 7340),

- Ammonium (IS 7380),

Smart Sensors do have many features and advantages which are worldwide unique in this cost range, e.g.:
- large determination range (e.g. 0.1 - 3,000 mg/L at a resolution of 0.1 mg/L for ion selective determination),
- easy to perform two point calibration with user configurable calibration points to exactly cover the interesting range for maximum precision (iVM-IS 7XXX pc software or our stationary meter iraSen-I 8.1 serve as calibration frontends),
- configurable 4 and 20 mA limits to exactly cover the interesting range within the 4 - 20 mA signal in order to achieve maximum resolution and precision,
- automatical validation of computed calibration values, electrode system check, and many more.
Smart Sensors made by iRAS guarantees that all the know-how of and the experience in the development, the manufacturing and the application of ion selective electrodes and other electrochemical determinations methods has been considered for the design of iRAS smart sensors. Please note, that in order to calibrate a Smart Sensor either our configuration and calibration sopftware iVM-IS7XXX or the smart transmitter iraSen-I 8.1 is required. These products must be ordered seperately.
Application
iRAS Smart Sensors open the door for many more stationary applications using ion selective electrodes with their unique cost-benefit-ratio.
Smart Sensors are now applied
- in environmental determination stations for rain water monitoring and/or ground water monitoring (pH, Conductivity, NO3, NH4),
